The St. Moritz is the most intimate configuration in the barrel lineup — two people, or a single practitioner who wants a traditional steam practice at home without the footprint of a full-size sauna. The smaller barrel volume reaches temperature faster and uses less energy to hold it, which makes solo or paired sessions more efficient than a larger structure run for the same purpose.

The barrel form didn't arrive by design trend. It arrived by physics. The curved ceiling eliminates the dead air space that pools above the benches in a rectangular sauna — heat stays concentrated at body level, the structure reaches temperature faster, and it holds that temperature more efficiently than a flat-walled cabinet of the same volume. Pacific Cedar adds its own contribution: natural aromatic oils that release gently in heat, a warmth that synthetic materials never replicate, and outdoor durability that only improves with exposure rather than fighting it.

Installation & Setup

Assembly: Ships as a kit on a pallet via LTL freight. The barrel breaks into manageable sections and assembles in a day with two people. All hardware and instructions included. Golden Designs' support team is available if you need guidance through any step.

Electrical: Requires a dedicated circuit — confirm voltage and amperage with a certified electrician before installation. The heaters typically require 240V service.

Placement: Level ground, outdoor or covered outdoor space. No roof or enclosure required. The Pacific Cedar exterior is designed for direct outdoor exposure.
